Cannot successfully mount windows 2k3 share with smbmount
Hi there,
Until recently I had my linux server accessing the files on our main windows NT 4 file server with no problems. After the windows server was upgraded to windows 2k3 it has been impossible to get on it. I spent a great deal of time working out that the kernel version I had was not going to make accessing the windows 2k3 server possible unless I turned package signing off in the registry. In spite of upgrading to a newer kernel I still had problems so I turned off package signing anyway.
I have been able to execute mount commands and it really looks like the windows share on the windows 2k3 server has been mounted on to the linux server (fedora 2). However if I try to look at the directory where the share should be mounted I get the message:
[root@cygnetdev DC-NOBLE]# ls Trust
ls: Trust: Permission denied
Also if I try to unmount from the network browser I often use (smb4k) I get the message:
permission denied
Oddly enough though if I unmount from the command line it unmounts without any problems. This has been driving me up the wall now for weeks. It feels like microsoft have done their very best to make getting windows and linux to work together as hard as possible. I find it slightly strange and frustrating that no one else seems to be posting about problems with windows 2k3 and linux. I can use smbclient to browse the windows share and get files. Does anybody recognise where I am going wrong or have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
DaveTshave.
