Cannot rlogin without password

I am trying to setup rlogin on my Redhat box. I have entries both in /etc.hosts.equiv and .rhosts for a partcular user in a solaris box. Every time I try to rlogin it asks for password.

I have even tried giving both hostname and username or just hostname in /etc/hosts.equiv ( for any user from the solaris box) to see if anyone of them would work, without any success.

What am I doing wrong ?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Dave

From man page:
Rlogin first attempts to use the Kerberos authorization mechanism,
described below. If the remote host does not supporting Kerberos the
standard Berkeley rhosts authorization mechanism is used.

Try using the rlogin -K

From what I have read here and there online, I do not need Kerberos authentication to get rlogin working. It would create a lot more problems for me in other areas on what I am trying to achieve. At this point my goal is simply a database client access a database server over on another machine.

Any other suggestions anybody ?

Thanks
Dave

My point was exactly that, turn off kerberos using the -K option.
Might work. There may be some other options to turn off in order to prevent the password authentication.

Thanks for the help. It was my /etc/hosts.equiv file that wasn't set up properly. Now everything works great.
