**This is a big post but i decribe everything in detail
I use a usb ISDN only modem to connect with KPPP and i get connected. My problems start after i make the connection
This modem and the same ISP account work under windows
I connect as a "user" and i have chowned
ttyACM0 to "user":group.
So after I connect we have:
cat /etc/resolv.conf and cat /etc/ppp/resolve.conf have the correct nameservers supplied by my ISP.
route -n:
Code:
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
my.gate.way.IP 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 ppp0

0.0.0.0 my.gate.way.IP 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 ppp0
(I wrote my.gate.way.IP instead of writing the actual gateway IP ..same for ifconfig)
ifconfig -a: (as root)
Code:

I typed as root "ifconfig eth0 down" but nothing changed.
No cable is attached to eth0.
I have no firewall rules and I i confirm that by giving "iptables -L" as root
I
cannot receive any ping
respones although I can send packets and I confirm that with the use of tcpdump (as root) ...meaning that I can send but not receive by anyone
even my DNS or GATEWAY !! except my own IP address ^^.
And yes my DNS and Gateway reply to ping , I have checked it with windows
Now on mozilla when I give hostnames I get nothing("Resolving host blah blah") !! When I give the IP of "ww*w.mit.e*du" I get it loaded for 1 sec then stops..when i give the IP of "ww*w.google.c*om" the page does not load.
I have disable and enable dns.IPv6 support on mozilla and i get the same results as written above.
(I use asterisk to avoid spamming protection of this board in the first 5posts)
Using FTP I managed to connect to my ISP's server using its IP address and Ii got a welcome message (I can receive)!!! but no anonymoys logins allowed.
I have search this forum and google to find a solution but i find none solution though that many people face this problem.
I use slackware 10.1 and kernel 2.6.11.7 recompiled with ppp support and more
