Cannot print to Win2K shared printer from RH8

Hello folks.

Please help.

I have a Win2k desktop on which I've shared my printer. The desktop is running ZoneAlarm.

I have a laptop running RH 8.0.

Both machines are connected to a Linksys router/switch. (Well, the laptop is indirectly connected - it talks to a wireless access point that is directly connected to the router.) The Linksys box uses dhcp to assign IP addresses to both machines.

ZoneAlarm on the desktop has been configured to consider the IP address of the laptop as trusted.

The NetBIOS name for the desktop machine is (predictably) DESKTOP. In terms of Samba shares, the primary drive is shared as C$, and the printer is shared as Printer.

I can mount //DESKTOP/C$ using smbfs on the laptop. I can also connect to both C$ and Printer using smbclient. Using both methods, I can read and write to the C drive on the desktop.

What I cannot do is print to the printer. If I try to configure the Samba printer using CUPS or lpd, I apparently succeed (i.e., I don't see any errors), but nothing gets printed. Nothing happens.

If I try to print through smbclient, I actually hear the printer warm up and get ready to print, but then nothing else happens.

What is going on? Any ideas? I'd appreciate any help you folks can provide.
