Cannot modify desktop settings +samba +profiles

Hello forum,

I have setup a server with LDAP and Samba as a PDC.
Everything is working fine except that Windows XP users are not able to modify their desktop settings (like setting a IE home page, unlock task bar etc) and also to run some applications like Acrobat.

Indeed they are able to run most of the applications like Openoffice but they cannot run Acrobat at all (no errors at all).
Also when they trying to open firefox, a popup appears with the message that firefox is already running....when the user just logged in.

I searched a lot and tried a lot of combinations but with no luck.

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers
