cannot get network device to work


im new to linux completely, im using red hat 8.0 the hardware is there its a via rhine II nic card. but it wont activate, im going throigh a router, but thats not my dhcp i have a windows 2003 server set as my dhcp. i tried to manually put the ip in and it didnt work can someone help?

Post the output from /sbin/ifconfig and /sbin/lspci

How did you try to configure the NIC (what utility did you use, etc.)?
