Can read but cannot write to Linux Server from other computers.
Well I have just started to set up a linux server in the house. Got a new toy so the old computer needed a home.
The server is set-up with a 20gig OS drive and a 120gig Data drive that only has one partition for now. If I get on one of my XP machines I can see the new share directories that I have created on the Data drive and I can open them, but I can not send my MP3 or Pics to the directories. I get an access denied error. In no way is this server secure right now. I have all directories on share and guest=ok and read only=no. The Data drive is setup as slave. If I place a test file in one of the directories using the server to do this it writes but not from any other machines. I am on a wireless network, but I don't see were this would matter. Any suggestions Rob |
And what are you using for this task? Samba?
|
Yes,
Samba 3.0.5 and Webadmin for the GUI set-up. ROB |
Well stupid me I found the problem. I had not set the user permision for each folder on the server. I guess comming to the message boards helps blow off some steam to make you think clearly.
I will now crawl back into my little hole. Thanks Rob |
