can open webpages using IP address only and not site name

In my LAN I have a Red Hat linux 8.0 server with Windows based nodes. This server is connected to NET and would like to use it as a proxy server and access NET in the Windows machines. Can open webpages in the windows machines using the ip address of the website. e.g. opens the yahoo site. But when i give yahoo address i get the error
(110) Connection timed out
The remote host or network maybe down. Please try the request again.

Am able to open pages in the Linux Server using the site name.

I guess it has something to do with the DNS. What could be the solution..............

Thank you.
