can not ssh, but can ping

Dear friends, i setup a cluster with opensuse12.3. i have set the public ip of the first node.
i can ping the first node successfully at a remote computer, but i can not ssh the same ip.
it gives me the following error.
connect to host *.*.*.* port 22: Connection timed out
could you please gives me some sugestions.

probably you need to start sshd on that host.

thank you ! i can ssh the first node on itself. then it demonstrate that the ssh service is running.

Some port issue or firewall or router issue blocking it? Locally doesn't always prove a wan can connect, just that a local user might be able to connect.
