Can I create a local DNS?
Hi,
I am behind a router with a redhat linux box and a few other windows boxes. My redhat box is running a DNS server and I would like to set up a localdns (whatever.com to point at 192.168.0.3) Is this possible? So that I can hit my server from my windows box in internet explorer by going to whatever.com? Thanks, billy |
yes,of course .
the dns server in RH server can work well by default, you also can configure it and creat a domian |
You have to add a 'Zone' section for you domain 'Whatever.com' in /etc/named.conf file. And create a zone data file for this zone.
