can browse samba network with windows but not linux

Hello

I have a problem that I have never seen before and I am totally lost on what is wrong.

First of it is a mixed network mostly windows 2000 desktops and 1 XP laptop also there are 2 Mac's on the network as well. It is backed by 1 MS mail server on win98, 2 linux servers on suse 9 one is a file and controller the other is a web application server. My laptop and 1 other run linux and windows. Ok that is the setup now here is the problem. Until about 2 weeks ago all was well but then out of the blue none of the linux systems can browse the samba network at all I just get this error.

Internal Error
Please send a full bug report at
libsmbclient reported an error, but didn't specify what the problem is. This might indicate a severe problem with your network - but also might indicate a problem with libsmbclient.
If you want to help us, please provide a tcpdump of the network interface while you try to browse (be aware that it might contain private data, so don't post it if you're unsure about that - you can send it privately to the developers if they ask for it)

What is odd is that all the windows and the Mac systems have no problems on the network at all.

The only thing I can think of that change was the one Mac laptop was just upgraded to the newest os and I had just put him back on the network. Along those lines I unhooked him and even restarted the servers but with no luck at all. I can mount share from the samba server and windows systems with smbmount but I cannot browse the network at all. This network has been in operation on a linux server for over 2 years without issues until now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
