can't open redhat-samba-config need help
i have the samba software installed and the smb service is up and running, but when i try to configure samba by clicking on >System Settings>Server Settings>Samba the hourglass the hourglass cursor appears and then nothing happens. how can i solve this problem? any help would be greatly appreciated

try running this in shell
system-config-samba
and see if u get any errors

bash: system-config-samba: command not found
this is what i got. do i have to be in some kind of '/sbin' folder in order to excecute this?

hi there
what i think is u do not have that gui installed
so install that rpm from ur distro cd
u can check whther the gui is installed or not by this
rpm -qa|grep samba
the O/p will be lke this
samba-client-3.0.3-5
samba-common-3.0.3-5
system-config-samba-1.2.9-2
samba-swat-3.0.3-5
samba-3.0.3-5
the version might be different

Similar issue here... looked on the CD's, but i can't find the config rpm, found the swat though
With the command above i get:
samba-client-2.2.3a-6
samba-swat-2.2.3a-6
samba-2.2.3a-6
samba-common-2.2.3a-6

Go to the samba website and download ver 3 as it has better support than the old one your trying. I had the same problem, and smb3 fixed this, but I did go from rh9 to fedora 2
