Can't connect to internet with Slack 9.0
I went out and bought a 3com card and it seemed to detect fine during installation, but when I type "startx" and go to the konqueror web browser and type in some URL like www.google.com it says "error loading www.google.com".
How can I fix this, or at least check that my Network adapter is working. I need help, I'm almost there. Thanks.

I think you need to provide a bit more information before your question can be answered. First, how does you computer connect to the internet? Are there routers involved? Are you using DHSP to get an IP address or is one assigned to you? Details are going to be very helpful here. Second, ifconfig eth0 should tell you if the card is active or not. It would probably be helpful to post the output of ifconfig. The other thing to do is run netconfig from a console. If the card is up and running, netconfig will help you get it set up properly.

I'm sorry for not providing the info
I connect through my cable modem , no routers. I think I'm using DHCP to get an IP address. I have a 3com 3c905c-TX-M and it was picked up during setup.
I'm at work now , so I'll try the commands when I get home.. I'd like to thank you for your help. Hopefully this will work since it's my third attempt at using Linux, I can never get my NIC working.

If you're connecting via a cable modem, you're almost certainly using DCHP to get an IP address. If ifconfig shows that the card is running, use netconfig to set up the card to use DHCP. You could also by-pass netconfig and edit your /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 file. That file contains the start-up settings for your ethernet card and there are good directions in the file on how to set it up to use DHCP.

I'll try when I get home and let you know. If it doesn't work I'll post my ifconfig eth0 results.
Thanks so much
