Can't see linux box on network
am very new to Linux, I finally got Red Hat 7.1 on my second computer and am trying to set it all up. I got the network working. At least I can see my Windows2000 machine from Linux but I can't see my Linux machine from either windows 2000 or Linux. Can anyone help?

samba
Maybe you already found it out, but you gotta get busy with the samba to make it. This will allow you to share some data or printers.

I am still having problems with this
I have tried finding a gui that will make samba easier but none of them will install. Ksamba has problems as well as SWAT. If anyone can help with the command lines to set everything that would be helpful. Or even a link describing exactly what to do. Thanks

the /etc/samba/smb.conf file is pretty easy to configure and is commented nicely.

Wow is this an old post...
Yes I figured that out a long time ago. Just set up samba and make sure that the service is started. One other thing that might help is to make sure that both the windows machine and the linux machine are on the same Workgroup.

Are you using Samba to connect to Linux machines?? I was thinking that Samba was only for connecting Linux to Windows. Can you tell me what you've done, just a basic description?
Thanks!

I installed Samba. After installing samba I opened a terminal and cd'd to the /etc/samba folder and edited the smb.conf. Then started the the samba services. the smb.conf file has tons of comments which makes it pretty easy to edit.
