can't resolve www.yahoo.com

I am having a very weird problem. I can resolve just about any address EXCEPT www_yahoo_com from my internal network. It WILL resolve on my external name server/web server box. DNS lookups first go to an internal name server, which has forwarding to the external name server turned on (this is done through a firewall). It was working fine until about 3 days ago. No changes have been made on the internal network. If I do an nslookup to www_dcn_yahoo_com (www_yahoo_com is an alias for this), it works just fine from an internal network PC. Apparently, ONLY www_yahoo_com does not work.

Has anyone else seen this kind of a problem? Could it be a caching issue (after 2 days)?

The external name server is a RedHat 8.0 box using BIND 8 and forwards to my ISP.

If you have access to all other public network/WAN sites than it could just be a problem with the servers at yahoo.com.

Is the problem occouring on windows machines?

Maybe they are infested with spyware/adware that is redirecting yahoo somwhere else.

Check the hosts file, on 2000/XP its somwhere like c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
If it is full of entrys for yahoo, MSN search etc then some undesirable software has got onto
the machine.

Run adaware and spybot. Ignore the cookies they find, they don't matter.

If spyware/adware has got onto the machines then plug the secuiry hole it used to get it (most likly you need to make somthing other than IE the default browers on the machine) or find the person who clicked YES while browsing a porn/warez site and beat them with a stick.
