Can't obtain ip using dhcp + linksys router

I currently have a linksys router that connects using PPPoE to my dsl line. My other computers have no problem obtaining an ip through the router.

My linux box (RH 7.0) hangs on boot when eth0 attempts to initialize. It can ping itself, but not the gateway (the router). Ifconfig only brings up the loopback device.

I've tried using both pump and dhcpcd, but am fairly sure I'm not running those correctly.

Basically, I'm pretty clueless as to what I'm doing. I've already spent 2 days at this and have gotten nowhere. Any help or direction at all would be appreciated.
