Can't mount samba server: "wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock ..."
The last time I got this error was when trying to get support for a usb storage device. What I had to do then was to enable a certain codepage (437 United States, Canada).
This time it's about a samba network share. I'm not sure what codepage OR fs type it uses, so information about how to find that out would probably help. I've got full access to the server machine.
Code:
# mount //klas /mnt/klas
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock
on //klas, missing codepage, or other error
klas is the server name. After taking a look at your command, I did the following
Code:
# mount -t cifs //klas/media /mnt/klas
because I remembered that in Windows, the path is "\\KLAS\media", i.e. the "media" subdirectory probably matters. However, no success (and the fs type flag doesn't matter).
So I have other Windows machines that can mount and use the server, if it could contribute to a solution.
By the way, doing mount //server-that-doesnt-exist /mnt/klas gives the same error.
