Can't login to router server with name only with ip

Bit of an odd one this I have a bthomehub, and when I point firefox at the configuration using the routers name, "BlueMidget", that is set in /etc/hosts to the local ip address I get a "403 forbidden" message, I have a firefox add-on ShowIP which shows the current IP address of the displayed page, which shows the correct address for the router, but if I use the IP address itself the page displays just fine.
Chrome does the same.

I am using LFS
64 Bit pure
Twin core AMD Athlon
Firefox 15.01

Looks like it's down to the home hub, not the client. in chrome you can use developer tools to see the http requests if you want. Why does this matter to you?

Convenience really I find it easier just to type "BlueMidget" rather than xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and I just like stuff to work!
Had feeling it was the hub but a solution would be nice!
I don't really use chrome unless I get a problem with firefox then I use it to check where the problem lies, so what are the development tools and where do I get them?

how many times a month do you need to access your router?? I've not touched mine for months and months.

Main menu | tools | developer tools.

I've just set it up and so am still tweaking the settings.
