Can't login to domain account in X but can in shell
I am somewhat new to Linux, so if I leave anything out please let me know...
I have Mandrake 10 installed and Samba 3 running to connect to my W2K AD domain. I am using winbind and pam and everything appears to be working correctly...except 1 thing... I can use wbinfo to get information from AD.... I can login with a domain account from a shell... I can see a list of all domain users when X is at the login screen... I can't log in with any of the domain users to X and I can't start X when logged in with a domain user through shell. If I try to log in from X it shakes like I entered an incorrect password... If I try to start X after logging in through a shell it just hangs at a blue screen with an X. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Additional information...
when I log in to the console with my domain users and try to start X I get the following error message...
Authentication failed - cannot start X server. perhaps you do not have console ownership? For local users and root I can start X without any problem. |
same thing, only SuSE 9.0
X runs, but the desktop won't apperar, I can only log in if I manually stop X..
I messed up with the XF86Config file after I made a backup (actually I changed one number, trying to improve my refresh rate). After copying the backup over the original file it did the same thing.. Text mode is perfectly fine, but I don't have that much documentation.. |
