Can't get into server through SSH "Connection Refused"

Im running a dedicated server for our website(and a few other things) and for some reason, the website suddenly started giving everyone trying to access it a 500 internal server error.

When I went to correct this problem through ssh, it says "connection refused".
We don't have an ftp account and webmin isn't working either, is there any other way we can get into the server?

We are running a Apache/2.2.3 (CentOS) Server.

I know I haven't given much info, but if you think that I can add something else, please tell me.

Thanks.

There's no way I can think of, except going to the server and login directly.

Thanks for replying.

So the best thing to do would be to send a support ticket off to the hosters?

First check your hosters Support/FAQ page for what to do in such cases. Maybe there is a way to gain access to your machine in recovery mode.

Cheers, Chris

We just rebooted the server, we will see how this turns out and i'll post the results soon..

Thanks for all the help guys.

EDIT:Ok, the server shut down completely, but didn't start up again.
We will just do a database rebuild, thanks for all the help you gave. ^-^
