Question Can't enable virtual users on pure-ftpd

I install pure-ftpd with command

#apt-get install pure-ftpd

I create an "ftpgroup" group and an "ftpuser" user
then creat ftp user

#pure-pw useradd joe -u ftpuser -d /home/ftpusers/joe

and make database

# pure-pw mkdb

In manual I red what to use virtual users I have enable them with command

#pure-ftpd -l puredb:/etc/pure-ftpd/pureftpd.pdb

but then "console hangup" until I press ctrl+c

any suggestions?

I realize that this is rather out-of-date, but the reason you are getting a "Console Hang-up" is because the command succeeded, and the server is now running with virtual users enabled, but the server is not programmed to output any response. You can try appending & to the end of you command to tell it to run in the background so you can continue to work on the same console window.
