Hi, I am a new user to linux and after installing the OS I cannot seem to connect to the internet. The network manager doesn't show any availble networks.
When I type in the command:
/sbin/iwonfig
I get
Code:
lo no wireless extensions
eth0 no wireless extensions
wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:off/any
Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=0 dBm
Retry lng limit: 7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Power Management:off
Any help is appreciated.

Reason: added code tags
It is likely a driver or firmware issue, as long as the wired internet is working correctly
What Linux distribution and what kind of wireless chip?
If you are not sure what the wireless chip is, run the lspci command in a terminal and post the output here. Be sure "Go Advanced" and wrap the output in "Code" tags. It helps make it easier to read.

I can't find drivers nor can I find any ndis wrapper for this device. Tried configuring using YAST, and it says I need ipw-firmware which I cannot find

Reason: additional info
You seem to have the drivers already loaded via the kernel.

I am not a rpm distro user. So other members who run Fedora or Open Suse should be able to tell you how to connect via whatever network manager/wicd/ceni/wireless tools that you are using in Open Suse.
