Can't connect netbook wifi to router
This is on openSUSE tumbleweed.
I have connected the netbook via ethernet. The router offers two wlan accesses, one not secure and open (legally operated by my provider) and my private secured access. I can connect to the open part but not to the privately and secured one. This is what sudo journalctl -n 100 > jctl.txt looks like (irrelevant lines deleted): Code:
Nov 15 19:45:54 netbook sudo[3861]: me : TTY=pts/0 ;PWD=/home/me ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/bin/journalctl -n 100 |

(might help; Idk) |
Thanks, tried it but it shows no more information than I knew already :(.
More facts: The network manager panel can't forget the connection: When I click on the network symbol in the lower right menu it is always there in the panel although I previously deleted the connection in the "edit" menu. I even issued "sudo rm /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/WLAN-4VBUP7" in a console -- the connection stubbornly stays in its panel and even tries vainly to connect when I click on it. So there seem to be some stored information which I can't locate and at which I can't get at :(. |
What security type is the router using for the secured network?
|
WPA2-Personal
|
Well, the problem sort of vanished into thin air.
I switched off security (WPA2-personal) entirely, let the automatic(?) routines do their thing and the connection worked. I then switched security back on and lo and behold, after entering the router password three times everything runs as expected. That's software for you ;). I won't mark this thread as solved since I don't understand what happened technically. Still, I do thank all here for reading, suggestions and moral support ;). |
