can't add my ethernet card to redhat 7.x HELP!

Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection....

That is the name of my ethernet port. It's built right into the motherboard. For some reason, when I go to network configuration and try to add the ethernet device, it won't let me. I need to do this in order to get onto the net! The error I get is "can't initialize" or something like that.

try running "netconfig" and see if that works for you.

what does "ifconfig -a" show?

does it say anything in "/var/log/dmesg" about eth0?
