can't access internet, but lan is ok

Hi,
My OS is UBUNTU 7.04

I add my computer with ubuntu to a LAN in several windows machines.
I can ping all of them, but I can't access internet, or ping any address or ip out of the lan or even ping my router or DNS servers.
I have a static IP.
Sometimes, I can access internet for a while, a few minutes, but then the connection is gone.
I thought that was after I restart the network in "/etc/init.d/networking restart" but I've been doing that today since early morning and got nothing.
All the windows machines have internet fine.
I don't know if is some firewall issue from ubuntu, from my router...
The most wierd is that I have internet sometimes
Please someone help me!!

Thanks in Advance,

Joćo Correia

Sounds like you might have a duplicate IP address. That will cause the behavior you're seeing. Also check your default route and netmask.

sounds to me like it could be a combination of

netstat -r look for a line with the word default in it

if one is not there try as root

route add default gw <router ip>

and name resolution

/etc/resolv.conf
should at least have one line that says

nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
