Caldera OpenLinux/Samba/Max file size

Hi - Have Calderas' openlinux 3.1.1 installed along with, of course, samba. Everything works as expected - with one exception. When copying a large file (2 Gig +) to a samba share the copy terminates with "the specified network name is no longer available". The copy terminates when 2,147,483,647 bytes have been copied. (Windows explorer or the command line "copy" command.)

Information available at Caldera indicate files of 1 TB can be created with kernel 2.4.xx and the ext2 file system. The kernel reports itself as 2.4.13 and the file system confirms as ext2.

I found nothing of help at samba.org.

The systems are Caldera 3.1.1 open linux.
Windows 2000 Professional.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ken

(Why are the files so large? Replacing tape backup with mirrored large capacity disk units installed on linux boxes.)
