Within Windows I use HyperTerminal to talk to my Sparcstation over a modified Mac serial cable. Works great. I've been searching around on the Internet some but I guess I'm looking down the wrong alley. I can't seem to locate any information or I'm not seeing it. How do I setup a cable connection to the IPX from within Linux?
The cable is a serial Mac cable that I've cut and crossed over the tx and rx lines. I added a 25-pin female to 9-pin female adapter to use at the Windows end on COM 1. At the Sparc end I've got the 8-pin miniDIN (I guess that's what they call them) connector plugged into serial port A. I've installed RH 6.1 on the Sparq using the ternimal so I know it works. I just can't find any information on what to do at the Linux end to talk to the Sparq.

I'm trying to do something similar with a spacstation 10 and connecting it to a serial port on the windows end to the long DB25 serial on the sparc end. There aren't any diagrams or more detailed info you could provide to help a brotha out by any chance?
Thanks, and good luck finding more info for yourself!

Well SFAIK the serial port is only for console, not for network protocols. I'm not an IPX expert, but don't you want to use IPX over Ethernet, i.e. plug into the AUI port on the SPARCstation?
