bypassing proxies with gaim

well as any devoted linux user , i just hate to log back to windows for any reason
but i am sitting behind a proxy server where most of all IM ports are blocked ...
only the messenger ports should work after 6:00 pm but the problem is that all ports are closed i ve found the proxy server is 10.14.2.3 and an nmap listning would show :
8080 http-proxy opened
80 http opened
443 https opened .
though i am able to connect to msn servers threw the msn 7.0 which takes the settings of IE
am not able to connect to msn servers threw gaim 1.4
is gaim still compatible with msn new protocol ? is there any application that will be compatible with my proxy server which would helped me connect ? or is there any secret settings to set !
thank u

GAIM will use your default gateway to try and get to the internet, if no proxy is specified within GAIM (I believe that is an option in GAIM, correct me if I am wrong). What are your current IE settings? Set the Proxy settings in GAIM to be the same as in IE.
