buying and installing a small router.

Hi,
I am planing to buy a small router. You know, the ones that are about the size of a external modem or a hub.
I have a cabel modem. The UTP cable from the modem will go in to the router and from there to my computer. Right now I get my ip adress via dhcp so it's dynamic.
Do I need to do some aditional setting up in linux. Or will I have connection to the internet right away after I have pluged in the router?
I'm sorry for being vague. But I really don't know what to do once the router is connected. Right now, i'm doing "dhcpcd" at the bash prompt to get my ip adress from dhcp. Will I have to do somthing similer after whet router is attached?

As long as the router is capable of doing DHCP sure. Basically, the router will get the actual IP from your WAN as it is recieved now. Then the router will give each computer connected a generic "private" IP via DHCP as long as it's capable of doing so (which it likely is). From there you should have access as long as the DHCP is working correctly and obtains the info correctly.

Once you decide on which router you want, let us know so we can possibly give you some advice on what to expect better

Cool
