browsing the network in FC4

Hi all,

I'm a Linux newbie. I've got a lot of Win experience but virtually none in Linux. However, I do want to learn a lot.....hence, my question.

I'm running FC4 in VMWare 5.5.1 on an XP box. There are 3 XP boxes on our network. All have shares that can easily be browsed in XP. I opened Desktop & then opened Network. A window opened containing "Windows Network". A third window opens & is blank. I know I should be able to see the workgroup & other pcs by name. I can browse by IP though.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure what other info you require, if any. I'm looking fwd to your responses.

Thanks & respects,
Chris

if you don't have DNS server locally. You will need to define your XP boxes in the "hosts" file on your FC4 box. Example of "hosts" file:

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 mail.abc.com mail localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.2 XP1
192.168.0.3 XP2
192.168.0.4 XP3
