Browsing and LAN
I have oldcomp and newcomp connected with a crossover cable.
How do I actually address, say newcomp from oldcomp. Oldcomp is using Nautilus under Fedora 1. something. I mean, how do I mount newcomp under oldcomp or vice versa. Or, do I need to use, say Mozilla, which is, I think, only for http. What do I need to enter to open, say, an Open Office .sxc file that is on the newcomp using Open Office on the oldcomp? On oldcomp I have a directory /home/dad1/ On newcomp I have /home/dad2/ How do I open /home/dad2 on newcomp from /home/dad1 on oldcomp? I've heard of ip (internet protocol), http (hypertext transfer protocol), ftp (file transfer protocol), tcp (transfer control protocol). Is there a special LAN protocol?? How do I get Nautilus to open anything at all on newcomp?? How do I actually address the other computer?? Fixed ips 192.168.3.9 (oldcomp) 192.168.3.10 (newcomp). I can print from oldcomp using the printer attached to newcomp, so no-one can tell me the darlin's aren't connected!! Thanks for any tips!! Peter |
