Broken routing in Fedora

I have two DSL Connections running into my local box (Running Fedora RC2)

The first is a static IP with a bridged network (IP & Gateway entered directly onto the NIC).
The second connection utilises a PPPOE connection through a bridged connection.

these are coonected to coresponding nics eth1 & eth2
eth0 is the internal network.

Now here is my dilemma.
whenever my pppoe connection comes online it overwrites my default route. fair enough but it also takes out my default return path for the connection on eth1.

I was expecting it to have multi-routes defined not lose my gateway on one of my connections.

What am I missing ?
I can do this in windoze and have different metric weights and on redhat 9 had no problem also, WTF ?

Hope someone here can shed some light on this and how to get a work around !

try making the first one just a gateway not a default gateway
Linux can only have one default gateway i think
