Unhappy Broadband Timedout issue

Hi,

I setup a redhat 7.0 linux box and I installed 2 lan cards. One is Baffalo and the other one is Filand.

I set the eth0 as 192.168.0.40 255.255.255.0 and eth1 as 192.168.0.50 255.255.255.0.

There was a package rp-pppoe-2.2-4 in redhat 7. I run adsl-setup and have the following config:

Username: username
ethernet int: eth0
on demand: no
DNS: server
pwd: pwd
Firewall: 2

I login as root level.

I also made the following commands:
ifdown eth0
ifconfig eth0 0.0.0.0 up

But, when I key-in adsl-start or adsl-start eth0 username, it showed ..................TIMEDOUT.

My questions are:

1) I don't know which lan cards belongs to eth0 or eth1? I tried to connect the cable on each of them but still timeout.

2) I tried to view the /var/log/messages, but nothing relating to rp-pppoe.

3) Surely I cannot ping outside the network, e.g. yahoo.com

4) When I connect the cable to one of the lan cards, the light is orange and the other one is green. What is the meaning of orange light of the lan card? I can connect to the internet through my win98 machine no matter how the light is orange or green.

5) How should I connect to the Broadband as a root user?

Thanks for any kind help.

gogo
