Bridge / Bond on virtual interfaces
Hello,
I'm working on a H.A virtualization server (we virtualize asterisk pbx to be precise).
We have 6 interfaces on each nodes:
2 (eth0 - 1) are used for drbd's replication with a bond.
2 (eth2 - 3) for gateway bridge, one on each switches
2 (eth4 - 5) for cluster bond / management.
We had 2 vlan at first, one directly on internet (v5) and another one for management (v10) behind a firewall.
Now we have to add a new vlan (v7).
So i want to know if i can do the following:
eth4.10 and eth5.10 bound together for cluster and management.
eth4.7 and eth5.7 bridged together for VM's access in new vlan.
Do you think this is possible ?

You can bond eth4.10 and eth5.10 together for cluster and management. But for bridge, it request in same LAN. That means different VLAN didn't work.

Ok, so i can't have a bridge directly on a trunk.
What if my bridge doesn't have an ip and is only there to let VMs on the network ? Can i set a vlan in the VM then ?
Or i could bypass this by making a bond with eth4.7 eth5.7 then bridge that bond ?
Thanks a lot for your answers !

Why do you want to create a bridge on a bond interface, eth4.7 and eth5.7? Just bridge one interface? You could create a VLAN on the bond for VM access in new VLAN.

For redundancy, what if the switch on which that only one bridged interface is, has a failure ? The service will be interrupted which cannot be tolerated.
We have to bridge 2 interfaces, one on each switches.
I can use bond instead of bridge for vm connectivity with kvm-libvirt ?
I'll try this right away, thanks.

Bond interface can provide redundancy and load-balance. It is better than bridge.
