Bonding Interfaces in Slackware 9.1

I'm trying to bond two interfaces in Slackware 9.1. I read the howto, but it didn't help me much. When I tried to create the bond manually, I received the following errors:

Something broke getting the master's IP address: No such device.
Something broke getting the master's MTU: No such device.
Something broke getting the master's destination address: No such device.
Something broke getting the master's broadcast address: No such device.
Something broke getting the master's netmask: No such device.
Something broke getting the master's status flags: No such device.
Something broke getting the master's hardware address: No such device.
Illegal operation; the specified master interface 'bond0' is not up.

So, how do I bring up bond0? I think once I get that up, I should be alright.

Thanks,
tim

Which howto? I'm trying to make such thing now, and I'm looking for more information about the issue.
