Binding NIS service fails for single client after kenel update

I'd be very greateful if someone could help.

After a reboot for the kernel update for RHEL6 last night this client machine is unable to recognize users. It normally reboots no problem.

All the services are up and running and I've restarted them all.
The problem comes restarting ypbind when I get this:

[root@rtdc ~]# service ypbind restart
Shutting down NIS service: [ OK ]
Starting NIS service: [ OK ]
Binding NIS service: ....................... [FAILED]

The message in /var/log/messages is
"NIS service failed to register to rpcbind."

/var/yp/binding/ is empty.

All the domains are set up fine - e.g. in /etc/yp.conf and /etc/sysconfig/network, domianname.

And the server is fine because all our other clients connect without problems. I can ping the server and login as root. It's just NIS.

Thanks in advance.
