Bind9.3 MX Help

After setting up a primary and then secondary bind9.3 box and everything "seemed" to be running ok i noticed a problem with my mx records.

for instance when i lookup the mx records they comeback in the form.

Code:
mxname.Domain_name.tld.Domain_name.tld
Here is a look at the zone file for my domain

Code:
$TTL 3h

theEsolution.com. IN SOA NS1.TheEsolution.com. root.TheEsolution.com. (
        10      ;Serial
        3h      ;Refresh after 3 hours
        1h      ;Retry after 1 hour
        1w      ;Expire after 1 week
        1h ) ;Negative caching ttl of 1 hour

;
;Name Servers
;
TheEsolution.com.       IN NS   NS1.TheEsolution.com.
TheEsolution.com.       IN NS   NS2.TheEsolution.com.

;
; Host Address
;
NS1.TheEsolution.com.           IN A    24.39.230.33
NS2.TheEsolution.com.           IN A    24.39.230.34
www.TheEsolution.com.           IN A    24.39.230.35
theEsolution.com.               IN A    24.39.230.35
mail.TheEsolution.com.          IN A    24.39.230.33
box5.TheEsolution.com.          IN A    24.39.230.34

theEsolution.com.               IN MX   0  mail.TheEsolution.com.
theEsolution.com.               IN MX   10 box5.TheEsolution.com.
At current i have the correct PTR setup so that 24.39.230.33 maps to mail.theEsolution.com with my isp and have not had a chance to call them and set the ptr for 24.39.230.34.

Any pointers appreciated

thanks

I don't know what you're seeing or how you're looking this up, but all seems well from here, except what you said, that you don't have a PTR for your secondary MX. Here's what I see:

Code:
jim@jimsworktop:~$ dig -t mx theesolution.com

; <<>> DiG 9.3.4 <<>> -t mx theesolution.com
;; global options:  printcmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 63511
;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 2, AUTHORITY: 2, ADDITIONAL: 0

;; QUESTION SECTION:
;theesolution.com.              IN      MX

;; ANSWER SECTION:
theesolution.com.       10800   IN      MX      0 mail.TheEsolution.com.theesolution.com.
theesolution.com.       10800   IN      MX      10 box5.TheEsolution.com.theesolution.com.

;; AUTHORITY SECTION:
theesolution.com.       10800   IN      NS      NS1.theesolution.com.
theesolution.com.       10800   IN      NS      NS2.theesolution.com.

;; Query time: 553 msec
;; SERVER: 207.69.188.186#53(207.69.188.186)
;; WHEN: Sun Apr 15 23:55:27 2007
;; MSG SIZE  rcvd: 129
So both mail servers show up exactly as your zone says they should. And the PTR info:

Code:
jim@jimsworktop:~$ dig -x 24.39.230.33

; <<>> DiG 9.3.4 <<>> -x 24.39.230.33
;; global options:  printcmd

So in short, nothing seems wrong. How were you looking up the MX records?

Also, I'm a former UR/Eastman student. The food still decent at the Distillery?

Peace,
JimBass
