Question Bind and security issues

I would just like to know if anyone uses bind as their own DNS server for the outside world and inside. I am currutely running one on the inside of my network. I would like to run one for the outside also.

This way I can put my host name and then add stuff like
email.mysite.com
myname.mysite.com
myfriendsname.mysite.com
ftp.mysite.com

and etc...

but I have not ever done this and am not for sure If I should and more importantly is the security issue and how great it is.
