BIND and DNS with Static IP

hi
I have some doubts
1. Is it possible to run our own Naming Server, where i can host my own website as well as others. Do we need
any special permission from our ISP.
2. Assume that i have one Static IP and running on RHLinux7.1 Box. Is this enough to run a DNS server.
3. I have one domain name also, will it be possible to setup primary and secondary dns server using a single
Static IP. (eg ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com) or one DNS server is enough??
If so pls somebody help me to configure my DNS server using BindConf.
Thanks in advance

Yes It is possible. For reverse lookup entries u may contact ur ISP

2. Assume that i have one Static IP and running on RHLinux7.1 Box. Is this enough to run a DNS server

Yes It is possible. It is more than enough

3. I have one domain name also, will it be possible to setup primary and secondary dns server using a single

Actually u need two different server in different localtion for reachability at any time. But u can configure on a same machine if u dont have any other options. Some times the registration agencies verify ur entries. if u dont have any other option just confiugre one more IP address on the same machine. And add the host entry

Refer DNS Howto

network solutions

if your domain name is from network solutions (which should be in order to become a host) you have to have a secondary name server with a different ip. I think i am going to have to pay someone to do it for me.

why network solutions? why not register.com... you're free to do a lot more changes than with network solutions. My company used to be with network solutions till i found out of some stupid rule they had in which you had have something that they could ping in order to make any record for it, which would have made our network unreachable for a couple days when we needed to switch ISP's.
