This depends on what you back-up to. If a CD or tape, then just re-install linux on the server and do a restore there. If it's a hard drive, you need to move that drive to another linux computer , and edit /etc/fstab to show the mount point. Then restore from there. You could also re-install linux on the same server and not format the back-up partition.

Dear sir

First of all Thanks for reply. My question was that how to take the backup of user logins not the user data files(i am taking the backup of users files data daily).
I am scared of the users logins .Be kind to tell me that in case of server crash, should i have to create login again manually or there is a way to restore that also.Or i can ask it in other way and that is how to take the backup of user logins .

Regards

If you're backing up the critical system files, specifically everything under /etc, you should be able to restore from there and retain all user login information.

I believe the files critical to the user logins are:

/etc/passwd
/etc/shadow
/etc/group

The ease of the restore process depends, like hotrodowner said, on how you are backing up the data.
