Best info to setup a ftp server behind the proxy server.
 

Gnu/Linux Distro.(Mandrake,SuSe,fedora 4)

I have planned to setup a ftp server So that i can share the data for me and every one to the outside world.
I have connected to internet Bye an proxy server in my university.
We have an DHCP server for Dynamic IP address But My IP address is a fixed one.I am browsing the internet within the proxy server.So my basic doubt is how to setup an ftp server so that i can browse my file from the external world.
I am ADMIN. of the system too.

I am safely browsing the web pages behind the proxy server Where as It is very hard to reach my system from outside world.

WARNING: i can not ping my system from outside because incoming ICMP packets are blocked in my network.

Outside world------>MY ISP--->proxyserver-->router---->my system.

How is that?

i don't understand where your university comes into this... is this your own personal lan, or your uni's?? if it's theirs, you can't do it without either getting them to do it for you or jumping through some serious hoops (ssh tunneling etc...) if it's your own lan, then you need to ort forward from your internet facing device to the machine inside.
