Belkin router stops working under dsl...

(modem)
Paradyne 6381 adsl modem [my user/pass is in the modem]

(router)
Belkin 7230-4 ver 4001 lan/wlan b-band router (default settings)

(box #1)
Slackware 10.2 - 2.6.12.2
linksys ethernet card 10/100 (working)

(box #2)
Winxp-pro
linksys ethernet card 10/00 wired (working)

(setup)

Modem >> Router >> box #1
>> box #2

On the slackware box i ran netconfig and set it to use kt600a.motherboard.net and to resolve
ip/subnet/gateway via dhcp...

Basiclly the same as i have in the winxppro box...

The problem is that i can use the lan and wan ok for a while internet works samba works but sometime within a 24hour period my router looses the lan side of it (orange blinking lights) but it looks like it still sees the modem (green light) and says i still have internet (green light).

Now if i unplug and replug both router and modem my network will be up again...
(might have to run dhcpd to get ip address for my linux box again or a reboot)

Could my modem be reconnecting or resetting inself -or- the router is.....?
Or could i just turn of the dhcp on the router and asign static ip's to my boxes like

box #1 >> IP 192.168.2.2
SUB 255.255.255.0 (routers subnet)
GATE 192.168.2.1 (routers gateway)

box #2 >>
IP 192.168.2.3
SUB 255.255.255.0 (routers subnet)
GATE 192.168.2.1 (routers gateway)

and so on for any other computers i may have... if the modems connection restarts this shouldnt affect the local network....as far as computer to computer file sharing game playing..

any idea's ?

If sounds as though the DNS or the DHCP of the router might be going... If it loses the DHCP the internal routing of the router will go. so that is why reseting it allows it to work. See what can be done by updating the routers firmware. This may fix the issue.
