Belkin F5D9010 Wireless PCMCIA Driver for SUSE 11.2 ?
Hi everyone. I hope somebody can help me with a wireless issue.I have a six-yr-old HP Pavilion ze4400 notebook that still works great, but is maxed out at 512 MB of RAM (which is shared with the onboard graphics chipset). So, when I replaced the original 30 GB hdd with a 160, I decided to dual-boot to take advantage of the low hardware-overhead that linux offers.
SO far so good. I ended up chosing openSus 11.2 32-bit, and it works great.. except for my Belkin F5D9010 Wireless G + mimo pcmcia card. The SUSE OS can see the built-in HP/Broadcom 54Mb wireless adapter, but that one cannot utilize any real security, knowing only "open" or "WEP". That's why I bought the Belkin... it gives me WPA2-PSK.
Unfortunately, Belkin hasn't written any Linux drivers for this card... only Windows drivers. That's where you come in. I have searched the net for a linux driver, to no avail. SO I'm hoping that someone will steer me in the right direction. I did find a "wrapper" that claimed it would allow Ubuntu to use Windows drivers for certain wireless cards, but I doubt it will help me, for several reasons.
First, the documentation says nothing about running on any distro other than Ubuntu. Second, while the list of supported devices included a couple of Belkin cards, my F5D9010 was not in that list. And third, the instructions involved editing some OS files to make it all work. And while I have been doing end-user desktop suport since 1990, and can learn anything if given enough time to work on it, I am not at a level of proficiency where I am comfortable with writing scripts or editing system files.
So what I need is either a straightforward, downloadable, plug-n-play option that will let me use my Belkin PCMCIA wireless adapter, or the make and model of a wireless 802.11g adapter (PC or USB... doesn't matter to me) that offers WPA2-PSK and will plug-n-play nicely with OpenSUSE 11.2. Thanks, in advance for any and all assistance. I wil be checking for responses frequently, so plz let me know if I need to provide any additional information to obtain a solution.
