Beginner Bind/DNS questions
What's the difference between forwarders in named.conf and nameserver in resolv.conf? On your machine that runs named, don't both elements serve to forward queries for resolution to higher-up name servers?

If your named server is running on a port other than the default of 53, how can you tell clients what the port is? Can you instruct them to set, in their resolv.conf files, nameserver (where 5555 is the port number)?

Also, what's the difference between putting in your /etc/nsswitch.conf file "hosts: dns files" and in your /etc/host.conf "order bind, hosts"? Are these both doing the same things? Which takes precedence if they mention different things?
