Bcm43xx loaded and working but Knetworkmanager dosent find network?

As the text says. I can use the scan function in konsole and I find my wifi network at home but I can't make Knetworkmanager find it.

any got an idea why ?

openSuse 10.2 on acer ferrare 3200 with bcm4318 wireless chip

EDIT: Now I somehow can make Knetworkmanager find the network by entering yast and changing to Ifup and then back again.

But I still can't connect to it. it stands at 0% activating...

I had the same problem. I'm using 10.3, but it's most likely the same situation. Start Yast. Go to Network Devices. Click on your wireless device. Go to the Global Options tab. Check to see if "User Controlled with Network Manager" is checked. Check "Request broadcast response". Set the "Hostname to Send" to auto.

Go to the Routing tab. Make sure your Default Gateway IP is correct.

Let's start with that. If you had to make any changes, reboot your machine.

Ok I made the changes you said except I cannot set the default gateway it's all greyed out

I can still see the network but still can't connect though.

Seems weird why I can't put up a default gateway.

OK. When I did this, I had to delete my wireless device, and add a new one using "expert" mode. That allowed me to enter the Default Gateway. You might try that.

I will try that Right now.

Thanks for taking the time to help me :) I really appriciate a freindly and active linux forum.

Too many forums are closed off by people who dont wanna help newbs.. though I do know some :)

Hmm I removed the old card and now I have to pick a new one to add.

problem is - most of what it asks me i dont have a clue how to fill in.

I presume it has to be a wireless card (ofc) the configurationname I have a hard time figuring out what should be.
looks like it's id-00:MAC-ADDRESS but not sure

what hardware configuration to use. I guess the default static-0 is ok ?
modulename: is that tg3 og orinoco_pci ?

I only got options to press PCMCIA or USB. none of wich is right to use since the wireless card is PCI based. miniPCI if I remember correct.

I can choose from a list but my card dosent seem to appear on the list. (Acer travelmate something something)

I hope some of this made sense.
