BCM4312 LP-PHY not connecting to home wireless.

I have an HP Mini with a BCM4312 LP-PHY wireless card in it and using Blackbuntu as my OS which is based off of Ubuntu 10.10. The problem I'm having is connecting to my home wireless network. On the Blackbuntu forums someone said that upgrading the kernel to one on their site fixes the problem, no luck. Next was to change from Network Manager to Wicd and fully removing Network Manager, no luck. After more reading I learned Wicd 1.7 has issues with WPA networks and downgrading to 1.6 resolves this, no luck.

So now here I am, with a fresh install of Blackbuntu with no changes at all to it. The only thing which I know I have to do is install firmware-b43-lpphy-installer instead of firmware-b43-installer, which still hasn't been done (literally just logged in after fresh install). Other than that though, I am making no changes to the system to see if someone has a solution.

Have you checked all the wireless card information with iwconfig, rather than a GUI?
Does that match your home network properly?
Can you try changing the encryption method on your home network? - ie if using PSK2, try changing to WEP or PSK, just to see if that's the issue.
NetworkManager should be Ok really.

Those Broadcom cards need firmware that is not installed by default. Have you installed that?
