basic server setup question

Hi. I'd like to set up my FC4 box as a server, but I don't know how to make it visible to the ouside world. I have Apache configured and serving up /var/www/html/ and an SVN repository locally, but I need an IP address I can hit from outside. /sbin/ifconfig shows me a 192.168.x.x address for eth0, which I understand is coming from my wireless router (?). Do I need to pay for a static IP address from my service provided (Comcast) or do I have one already? What exactly is logged when a web service logs my IP? Any tips, pointers to tutorials, etc. appreciated.

I'm pretty new to this, but as I understand it, you can sign up for a pseudo-static DNS from places like dyndns.com - check out http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/

Good luck.

This is one fast-paced forum! Thanks for the tip, tmpatrick. I now have a dyndns domain name pointing to... somewhere. I get a prompt for a password which is not coming from my server. Something to work out with my ISP, I expect.

i've got a wireless router, and i can acces it from internet, if i enable features. in its configuration you decide to rediect incommin web request to the webserver and you acces your site.
please note that the password it's asking you is those to connect to your wireless router

You're right... it was my router. Now I have it configured to redirect to my server, and everything is working tip-top. Thanks to both of you :)
