Unhappy Basic Samba Configuration on Mandrake distro

Even the latest Samba documentation seems to think there are only 2 methods of having the system boot up a samba server, inetd or as a daemon. I fall into a 3rd category called xinetd (new improved over inetd).

How do I kick off my two samba processes, smbd and nmbd, to get the ball rolling using the xinetd servicexs on my Mandrake 9.1 distro?, thanks.

Why don't you just run it as standalone?
