Basic Avahi Question
I see where Avahi is installed on my system. With some of the things that I've read, it kind of sounds like it's really for people who have a need for wireless connectivity. I don't, everything is hard-wired. I was wondering if I need it or should uninstall it?
Thanks for any help you can provide. |
According to this Wikipedia article, Avahi is a Zeroconf implementation for automatic discovery of services on the network. As such it could be as useful on a hard wired network as on a wireless network. Whether you want it is up to you. I just checked my Ubuntu installation, and it is disabled by default.

Ok, thanks for the help.
