Bandwidth Monitoring Tools

Hey Guys,

I'm running a Linux (CentOS) Gateway, which runs my internet, but I'm looking at bandwidth monitoring software that will basically tell me how many data each machine on my network is using (both internal and external data)

For example.

PC2 (192.168.0.3) wants to copy a file to SERV01 (192.168.0.1) it will display on the bandwidth logging tool as INTERNAL DATA (or something similar)

Then if PC2 wants to download a 100mb file from google.com it will display on the bandwidth logging tool as EXTERNAL DATA (or something similar)

Alternatively if it could only handle EXTERNAL data that would also be handy. - I know there is windows software that can do parts of this (DUMeter (except it doesn't show what IP address the packets originally came from))

The main concern is finding out what PC uses the most data online (so I can charge that user XX for the data).

Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you considered commercial tools? A robust network monitoring tool, like Fluke Networks' OptiView Management Suite, will give you information on bandwidth usage as well as on-the-wire visibility so you can see transactions and speed, and quickly solve performance issues.
